Functionally Testing The Software Before Deployment
By newwebmaster in Software on January 19th, 2012
Before you deploy the childcare management software in your daycare center it is important that you test it properly and see if the software meets all the business requirements.
Make a list of all the business requirements and use the software to find out if the software is meeting the requirement functionally. A complete functional testing of the software is otherwise also required before you go live.
For checking out some of the functions you may require some kind of data. For this purpose you can pickup some old case studies with data and try to do the testing. You can also request for test data from the developers.
Another important functional testing that you may require doing is the platform test. In case you have multiple sites and a few different versions of the operating system then ideally you should test the software on all those operating systems before you deploy. If required you should take help of an OS specialist for this purpose.
It is also quite likely that you may want the childcare software to work seamlessly with some other third party applications. For this purpose you should check the third party integration modules and APIs so that you don’t have to struggle at a later date.
Another vital aspect that is often ignored is the ease of use. It is important to test and see if the user interface is intuitive and does have a big learning curve.
During the functional testing process if you find out some bugs then it is best to make note of all the bugs and request for fixes so that you can test those functions again. Sometimes you may receive an updated version of the software that fixes the bugs.
If you find some of the business requirements are not being met functionally you can always raise a request for those functions to be added. If it is not possible to add those functions then you may want to look at some other childcare management software that meets your requirement completely.
